About Siobhán
Siobhán Gallagher is an experienced Shilajit user who joined the Celtic Wellness Team in 2024. Following years of research into different health supplements and benefits, Siobhán found out about Shilajit and the benefits it has on both men and women. Aged 38, she actively participates in Yoga, Cross Country Walking (with her border collie!) and sea swimming. Health is a major interest and she has invested hundreds of hours of her own, personal time into understanding ayurvedic medicine.
Following her extensive knowledge, she became a part of the Celtic Wellness Team in order to write about her knowledge on Shilajit, Sea Moss Capsules and more, along with providing a pragmatic response. Simply, if something doesn’t work, Siobhan won’t hesitate to let you know.
“I’m Siobhán Gallagher, living in Sligo with my husband, two kids, and a very spoiled collie. Between sea swims, school runs, and teaching yoga, I try to keep life balanced (not always successfully!). I started taking Shilajit a few years ago after hearing about it in the health food shop where I work, and while I was skeptical at first, it genuinely made a difference for my energy and focus. This blog is my way of sharing what I’ve learned — the good, the bad, and the very real — about using Shilajit as part of everyday Irish life.”
Who Is Siobhán?
Q: What made you first try Shilajit?
A: Honestly? Curiosity, mixed with exhaustion. I was working in the health food shop in town when a jar of this tar-like stuff arrived. My first thought was, “That looks more like road repair than something you’d swallow.” But I was dragging myself through the weeks — kids, yoga classes, sea swims, and life in general. So, I figured I’d give it a lash. Within a couple of weeks I felt a steady sort of energy that wasn’t jittery, just natural. That’s what hooked me.
Q: Does it really work, or is it just placebo?
A: Look, I’m not a scientist, and I wouldn’t pretend to be. But I can tell you this: when I stop taking it, I notice the difference. Less energy, more sluggish, and recovery after hikes or swims takes longer. So whether that’s down to minerals, adaptogens, or pure magic, I can’t say. But it works for me, and that’s enough to keep it in my routine.
Q: Is it safe? Any side effects?
A: I’ve never had any side effects myself, but I always tell people — make sure you’re getting the real deal, from a trusted source. There’s a lot of dodgy stuff out there. And if you’re on medication or pregnant, check with your GP. I might be a fan of natural remedies, but I’ve still great respect for proper medical advice.
Q: What’s been the biggest benefit for you personally?
A: Energy and recovery. I can get through a wet Tuesday in Sligo with more pep, and I don’t feel wiped out after sea swims or hikes up Knocknarea. It’s not like coffee — there’s no rush or crash. Just steady stamina. And for a busy mammy trying to keep all the plates spinning, that’s worth its weight in gold.
Q: I heard you recently started working with Celtic Wellness. What drew you to them?
A: Ah yes! That’s right. I’d been following them for a while — they’re a small Irish company, and everything they do feels genuine, not like some big corporate machine. I liked that they source responsibly and focus on quality. When they asked me to collaborate, I thought, “Sure, why not? If I’m going to recommend something, I want to know the people behind it and trust it myself.”
Q: So, what’s your honest take on their Shilajit and other products?
A: Honestly, I’ve been impressed. Their Shilajit is the real deal — pure, properly tested, none of that muddy stuff you sometimes see online. And I’ve tried a few of their other things, like herbal tinctures and teas. Everything tastes natural, and I can feel they put thought into it. I don’t sugarcoat — I only write about what actually works for me. With Celtic Wellness, it’s easy because I believe in what they make.
